Claimed by my professor tonight:
"Like everything in life, do you want predictions or do you want cheap?"
I can't think of any other area other than regression where that statement applies.
Does anyone else think that "Angela" is a disgusting name? Am I alone here?
Posted by E1st at April 15, 2004 10:39 PMI hate the name Amber.. every Amber I've met was a brat
Posted by: Kris on April 16, 2004 03:02 AMCarla, Becky, Oliver, Don (guy or girl), Donna, and Edgar are just a few off the top of my head.
Posted by: andy on April 16, 2004 06:38 PMi hate the name brittany every single brittany i know is dumb and annoying. i also hate the name amber because everyone thinks i look like an amber.
Posted by: amanda on January 30, 2005 05:39 PMI must agree that if anybody ever told me I "looked like an Amber", I'd go out back & shoot myself. Right on, Amanda.
Posted by: Bess on January 30, 2005 08:30 PMWith kids called Kiki and Jojo and Cece, I'm not entitled to hate any names.
Posted by: ae on January 30, 2005 10:27 PMEric, you don't delete comments you don't like do you? I swear I remember reading this post and I have such strong feelings about both names I can't believe I didn't comment.
Angela: I have a sort of estranged friend named Angela, and I must say I never liked the name.
Amber: I've only ever known one Amber and she has been and is currently one of my favorite ladies. I think a name like Amber has enormous potential, but very few Ambers have the ability to tap it. You'd have to see what this girl is done with her name-personality interaction, tremendous.
Rita: I think this is a terrible name. Especially with the last name Mann. How ugly is that? It has sort of a Fran Drescher feel about it.
Posted by: Trent on January 31, 2005 06:02 AMTrent...If your comment was anything like that, I didn't delete it, at least not on purpose.
You cannot fully fulfill the potential of the name Amber unless you're a stripper or prostitute.
Posted by: E1st on January 31, 2005 07:11 AMMr. Furst has deleted many a Lara-comment just to spite her.
[Editor's note: That might be true. He also occasionally edits them.]
Posted by: Lara on January 31, 2005 09:27 AMHa, I made you say fully fulfill! Now you sound like a doofus in front of all your stalkers.
The claim was made in an 8th grade Louisiana Studies class that Amber and Alexis are the most common name for hookers in New Orleans. Or maybe it was strippers. I have always wanted to confirm or deny that, but I've never been sure where to look for the statistics . . .
I'm not sure how to explain the alternate Amber vibe, but I think it has something to do with thinking of the color of amber as both autumnal and urban. It may also help to think of dried sap.
Posted by: Trent on January 31, 2005 10:28 PMYou know a Rita Mann?
I went to high school with a Rita Manna. She was pretty attractive. I guess that's why I never thought her name was ugly.
Posted by: crl on January 31, 2005 10:45 PMI actually do know one, but I formed my opinion of her name before I met her (she turned out to be very attractive). Luckily, if she ever Googles herself, she should never be able to find this post because there is some much more famous "Rita Mann Band."
However, I did Google this post just to make sure that it wouldn't show up in a Google of Rita Mann, and guess what I found Eric? My two comments that were erased!! You didn't count on Google cache did you?!! I would share them (they are at least consistent with what I have said recently, in terms of what names I like and don't like), but I don't think it's really worth it. The erased writings are of little independent merit.
Posted by: Trent on January 31, 2005 11:57 PMTrent, I couldn't resist looking for your erased original comments. I didn't find them...yet. However I did come across this link

Is this the Rita you know?
Posted by: Stalker on February 1, 2005 12:20 AMOr maybe this one would be more helpful...

Trent,
I still doubt I removed your comments on purpose. Please provide me with your google evidence.
I don' tknow if this will work, but try looking a this link:
If it doesn't work I'll just email you the saved html file.
So did you used to just randomly delete swaths of comments? I believe it may have been an accident as the comments are hardly worth deleting . . . but how?
