And the Winner Is.....

Lara Hanson!

NOT

My 5000th visitor was IP 207.183.240.76. He was referred from Schaefer's site, specifically the link involving Joe Millionaire's Sara and her bondage experience.

Incidentally, my IP address changed recently, as happens every so often. Since I have to manually specify to my counters which IP to ignore (I don't like to count myself, since I check about a dozen times some days to make sure all's well), I have been counted the last few days. I was visitor number 5001, only missing the big number 5000 by 4 minutes. Also, Andy from Washington state, who I know from Flagstaff, who is now in Wales, was number 4999.

Once Schaefer gets back to me with the referral information of the 5000th visitor (how he got to Schaefer's site), I'll post it.

Until then, the prize will remain unclaimed. It's a t-shirt. A t-shirt with one sleeve to be exact.

Update:

Matt, through some unknown method, has been able to track the 5000th hit to a query for "Sara Kozer", runner-up in Joe Millionaire...Specifically, this particular search.

He somehow tracked that path back to a router called wi0.rtr1.Humbug.wireless.quiknet.com.
Using my greatly inferior stalking skills, I found that that router corresponds to an IP of 207.231.68.253, which at least starts properly. (though Matt's IP also starts with 207. and he's in NYC) Anyway, quiknet.com is now surewest.com, and surewest services Sacramento, the Bay Area, Oregon and Nevada, which explains the Western time zone information. surewest's business line traces to a Sacramento area number.

Matt also, this very moment, informs me that the server is in San Francisco and that the server time is off by about a half an hour, which makes sense considering the previous information that we have.

Imagine, someone from San Francisco searching on the internet for a sexual deviant at 6:20 AM...who would have thought?

Unfortunately, we're nearing the end of the line.
